It all began with this man: Pierre Legras, a contemporary of Louis XIV and Dom Pérignon. His parents, Laurent and Agathe, welcomed him into the world in 1662 in Chouilly, now a Grand Cru village in the Côte des Blancs. This was the heart of the 17th century, an era when the court of the Sun King was captivated by this unique and extraordinary wine, adored by the young. Champagne did not yet exist, but the legend was beginning to take shape.
